NATIONAL HOUSING STRATEGY
The federal government opened a consultation process to create a National Housing Strategy. The Learning Community designed a process to design a set of recommendations that need to be included in order for the National Housing Strategy to end youth homelessness. The Housing Working Group led the process for the Learning Community. It was critical that this work contained active youth engagement. The Youth Voice Constellation of A Way Home Canada supported this work.

YOUTH CONSULTATION WORK
The Youth Voice Constellation of A Way Home Canada supported the design of the Youth Consultation process for the Learning Community’s National Housing Strategy. A task force was struck and consisted of three Learning Community members who are on the Youth Voice Constellation. The task force created a facilitation guide for focus groups and an online survey.
FOCUS GROUPS
Youth at SCYAP (Saskatoon) generously tested the focus group and shared their feedback on the questions and recommendations. The facilitator’s guide was revised accordingly. Two Learning Community members hosted focus groups: The Street Youth Planning Collaborative (Hamilton, ON) and Kingston HomeBase (Kingston, ON). In total 14 youth participated in the focus groups. Feedback from the focus groups were incorporated into the Learning Community’s submission narrative.
ONLINE SURVEY
The online survey was designed to quick and easy for youth to complete (most questions were multiple choice). Space was reserved for youth to share longer responses for each recommendation. In total 20 youth responded to the online survey. Feedback from the survey responses were incorporated into the Learning Community’s submission narrative.
